For more information, please contact our President, Brother Max Keilson '13 at president@adphi-middlesex.com, our Rush Chairman, Brother Jake Weiner '14 at jake.a.weiner@gmail.com, or our Recruitment Chairman, Brother Aaron Markiewitz '15 at amarkiewitz@gmail.com.
What is Rush?
Rush is the term denoting the fraternity and sorority recruitment period at the Brandeis University. Fraternity rush provides information to those interested in the Fraternity system and to allow potential members time to get to know brothers of various fraternities and evaluate them. Rush events allow those interested a chance to meet the brothers of Alpha Delta Phi and a chance for the brothers to get to know you better. There is no obligation throughout the Rush process, and individuals can come and leave as they please and receive adequate time to make a decision.
Why Go Greek?
Fraternities provide their members a wealth of benefits, many of which last long beyond a brother's graduation...
- Leadership: Fraternities teach leadership and communication skills, and involve handling issues uncommon to other organizations. Fraternity treasurers deal with thousands of dollars of money, presidents learn valuable risk management concepts, and everyone learns how to get ideas across to those of varying backgrounds.
- Academics: Fraternities also offer academic benefits such as scholarships and tutoring by older brothers.
- Alumni: Alumni contacts are very important for job prospects, legal advice, and starting a network of contacts.
- Brotherhood: Most importantly, fraternities offer brotherhood. Where else can you become friends with 25 other people of all different races, backgrounds, and ethnicities? Your brothers will become your best man, your kid's godfather...they are life-long friends.
Here are a few statistics concerning fraternities that may be of interest to you:
- 71% of those listed in "Who's Who in America" belong to a fraternity.
- Of the nation's 50 largest corporations, fraternity men head 43.
- 85% of the Fortune 500 executives belong to a fraternity.
- 40 of 47 U.S. Supreme Court Justices since 1910 were fraternity men.
- 76% of all Congressmen and Senators belong to a fraternity.
- Every U.S. President since 1825, except two, have been members of a fraternity.
- A majority of the 600 NIC fraternity chapters are above the All-Men's scholastic average.
- Less than 2% of an average college student's expenses go toward fraternity dues.
Why Alpha Delt?
Alpha Delta Phi is a small chapter at Brandeis, and this allows for much closer ties and a much more unified brotherhood than some of the larger fraternities. There are no cliques or groupings within our brotherhood. We are also extremely diverse, with brothers from many different nations and many different regions of America. Our International fraternity is also smaller than many, allowing it to position itself at only the finest schools in the nation, rather than seeing an Alpha Delt on every corner. Also, our International level is very Jeffersonian in structure, meaning there are strong local chapters under a non-interfering International level. This allows our chapter a great many opportunities for leadership and innovation.
There are many leadership positions in our chapter, and most of them are easily accessible for new brothers. This means you don't have to wait two or three years to jump into a leadership position in the chapter, and you can test the waters with minor positions as soon as you become a brother.
